Galapagos Natural Life Jungle Tour Cuyabeno SAMONA LODGE
LONG TERM FAVOURITE IN THE RICHEST ECOSISTEM ON EARTH The Amazon, one of the wonders of our planet, contains an abundance of unique flora and fauna. More than 25000 species of Amazonian plants contribute 20% of the oxygen which exists in the earth's athmosphere. In addition 66% of all the world's fresh water can be found here. It is a rainforest of unique bauty. It contains an incredible diversity of species of plants and animals, beyond comparison elsewhere in the world. You will be amazed as you walk through virgin jungle, where around 400 species of plants have been identified in one hectare alone. Magnificently coloured birds, of wich there are 500 species, fly overhead. Monkeys, sloths, anteaters, armadillos, tapirs, jaguars, manaties and fresh water dolphins are just some of the mammals that live here, along with a great variety of reptiles such as snakes, caiman and the great anaconda and numerous fish, including Paiche(Arapaima), measuring over 3 meters in length and the famous piranha. TOURS TO CUYABENO RESERVE (ITINERARY 4 Days / 3 Nights) 1.-Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente. Flight (10:30 a.m.) or bus journey (one day before – 8 hours) to Lago Agrio. Drive from Lago Agrio to El Puente. Canoe trip down on Cuyabeno river to our camp place. Exciting night walk. 2.-Cuyabeno River. After breakfast we paddle by traditional dug-out canoe on the Caiman-cocha lake (Laguna del Caiman) where we will enjoy the nature uniqueness, lunch, hike in the primary forest including lessons in the use of plants for survival. Before we go back to our camp, we’ll have a relaxing time to swim and enjoy the sunset on the magnificent Laguna Grande. 3.-Cuyabeno river. In the morning, walk to the Tarapuy Siona Community, our naturalist guide will explain about the culture and traditions of the native people, piranha fishing in the afternoon Back to our camp. Night canoe trip in search of caimans (alligators). 4.-EL Puente – Lago Agrio – Quito. Early morning bird watching. After breakfast journey up Cuyabeno river to El Puente. Drive to Lago Agrio. Flight or bus journey back to Quito 16 hours.
(ITINERARY 5 Days/ 4Nights) 1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente. Flight 10:30 a.m. or bus journey (one day before - 8 hours) to Lago Agrio. Drive from Lago Agrio to el Puente. Canoe trip down on Cuyabeno river to our camp place .Exciting night walk. 2.- Cuyabeno River. After Breakfast, trek into the primary rain forest learning about medicinal plants biological flora and fauna. After lunch, journey downstream to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature on tubes (water tubing). 3.- Cuyabeno River. After breakfast we paddle by traditional dug-out canoe on the Caiman-cocha (Laguna del Caiman) where we will enjoy the nature uniqueness, lunch, hike in the primary forest including lessons in the use of plants for survival. Canoe trip down on Cuyabeno river to our camp place. 2.- Cuyabeno river - Amarumposa. After breakfast we will enjoy the landscape and the wildlife down Cuyabeno river on the motor boat up to the camp site in the Quichua community. Piranha fishing in the afternoon. Back to our camp. Exciting night walk 3.- Amarumposa. After breakfast. Expedition .with an Indian guide, including lessons in the use of plants for survival through primary rain forest. In the afternoon we will take a paddling dug out canoe around the camp site through a small lake to explore more of the flora and fauna here. Night canoe trip in search of caimans (alligators). 4.- Cuyabeno river – Aguarico river. After breakfast we are going to climb up to Samona (Ceibo) tree tower for wildlife observation and canopy view from the tower we can observe a variety of species: Toucans, Parrots, Monkeys and many more. In the afternoon we are searching for fresh water dolphins in the confluence of Cuyabeno and Aguarico river, visit the Quichua community. 5.- Cuyabeno river. Early morning short walk. After breakfast journey up Cuyabeno river to Shaman place where we learn about the culture costumes and traditions of his community. In the afternoon we’ll have a relaxing time to swim and enjoy the sunset on the magnificent Laguna Grande. 6.- El Puente - Lago Agrio – Quito. Early morning, bird watching. After breakfast journey up Cuyabeno river to El Puente. Drive to Lago Agrio. Flight or bus journey back to Quito (16 hours).

Sothat after that we continue down the Aguarico River, overnight in Lagarto cocha 8.- El Puente- Lago Agrio- Quito.- After breakfast journy up Cuyabeno river to El Puente. Drive to Lago Agrio. Flight or bus journey back to Quito.
(Dry season Itinerary, from: 15 of January to 15 of March) 1.- Quito - Lago Agrio – Chiritza - Aguarico river. Flight(10:30 a.m.) or bus journey (one day before –8 hours) to Lago Agrio. Drive from Lago agrio to Chiritza. Canoe trip down to Aguarico river to our first camp place.Exciting night walk. 2.- Aguarico - Cuyabeno river. After Breakfast, canoe down Aguarico to the mouth of the black water Cuyabeno river .From here journey upstream to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature. Camp on the shore. After lunch, hike in the primary forest. 3.- Cuyabeno River. Early morning bird watching. After breakfast expedition with an Indian guide, including lessons in the use of plants for survival. Piranha fishing in the afternoon. Night canoe trip in search of caimans (alligators). 4.- Cuyabeno - Aguarico River. In the morning rowing tour and short walk. After lunch, journey downstream to Aguarico. Back to our first camp. 5.- Aguarico River-Chiritza - Lago Agrio – Quito. After breakfast journey up Aguarico river to Chiritza . Drive to Lago Agrio. Flight or bus journey back to Quito.
