tourist rates entry fee

This adjustment marks the first alteration in entry fees to the Galapagos Islands in over twenty-five years. The decision reflects extensive deliberation and emphasizes the pressing necessity for sustainable tourism practices throughout the archipelago. While recognizing the vital role tourism plays in the local economy, the Galapagos National Park underscores the paramount importance of conserving the islands’ fragile ecosystem.

Outlined below are the newly revised entry fees to the Galapagos National Park:

The revision of entry fees represents a significant step towards harmonizing the needs of the local community with essential environmental preservation endeavors. These funds will be directly allocated to conservation projects, infrastructure enhancements, and community initiatives designed to mitigate the ecological impact of tourism on the islands. Notably, investments will be directed towards critical areas such as sewage systems, waste management, and medical infrastructure. This strategic allocation aims not only to enhance environmental resilience but also to safeguard the health and well-being of both residents and visitors, thus ensuring the enduring allure and biodiversity of the islands for future generations.

Niels Olsen, Minister of Tourism, remarked, “The Galapagos Islands are not only a national treasure but a global one. It is our collective responsibility to protect and preserve this unparalleled ecosystem for future generations. The adjustment in the entry fee, the first in 26 years, is a necessary measure to ensure that tourism in the Galapagos remains sustainable and mutually beneficial to both the environment and our local communities.”

The Government of Ecuador remains steadfast in its commitment to transparency and pledges to provide regular updates on the projects and initiatives funded through the entry fees. Visitors to the Galapagos Islands can anticipate enhanced conservation efforts, improved facilities, and educational programs aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the islands’ natural heritage.
