Isabela Island

- Arrival at Villamil Port in Isabela Island at approximately 09:00 am.
- At 11:00 am. Sailing time from Villamil Port to Tunnels. (1 hour)

Places to Visit:
- Tunnels: This is one of the most spectacular snorkeling sites in Isabela, the water is shallow, calm, and very clear, a marine sanctuary. A series of lava flows have produced unique geological formations, a series of arches and tunnels, below and above the water, where a large number of endemic Galapagos species live. The entrance to the site is not deep and the waves can be very strong, for this reason, access to this place is not always very feasible. The best time to visit Los Túneles is between January and May.

Isabela Island

Places to Visit:
- Wetlands: The Wetlands of Isabela Island are located just outside of Puerto Villamil. The Wetlands consist of lagoons, swamps, and mangroves and are home to a variety of unique bird species such as common stilts, whimbrels, white-cheeked pintails, and gallinules. The Wetlands can be visited on foot via a path that winds through the swamps.
- Flamingo Lake: To the west of Puerto Villamil there are various salt and brackish lagoons which house an impressive variety of coastal and sea birds. Here, visitors can also find the largest concentration of flamingos in Galapagos.
- Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center: The Tortoise Breeding Center (also known as the Interpretation Center) is located nearby Puerto Villamil. A boardwalk connects the town to the Center, stretching across the wetlands and Prickly Pear Cacti shrub. Five sub-species of the Giant Tortoise exist on the island, yet their populations are threatened by introduced animals such as goats and cats. At the Tortoise Breeding Center, eggs are nursed in a hatchery and the giant tortoise adults are observed in supervised corrals. The Center aims to increase the population and secure the survival of these species.
- Tintoreras: The Tintoreras Islets, located a short distance from Puerto Villamil, is home to a great variety of wildlife. Its turquoise, crystalline waters are inhabited by white-tipped reef sharks, Galapagos penguins, marine turtles and sea lions. One of its beaches, surrounded by mangroves is one of the few sites where marine iguanas can reproduce successfully.

Places to Visit:
- Bartolome Island:Named in honor of Sir Bartholomew Sulivan of the British Navy. It has an area of 1.2 km² and a maximum altitude of 114 meters. This island offers some of the most beautiful landscapes of the archipelago. The island is composed of an extinct volcano and a variety of red, orange, green and bright black volcanic formations. The lava cactus of the Galapagos colonize the new lava fields. On this island is the famous Pinnacle, which is one of the most representative places of the archipelago. Here you can dive and snorkel with penguins, sea lions, white-tip reef sharks, and other tropical fish. Seasonally, Bartolomé is the mating and nesting site of the green turtle. The bay is also an excellent place to go swimming. The twin bays are separated by a narrow isthmus.

Places to Visit:
- Twin Craters: The Twin Craters are, in fact, not craters. These impressive holes were formed by magma (lava) domes which hardened on the outside but continued to flow on the inside, leaving huge but empty chambers that collapsed with the passing of time, creating this breathtaking scenery that resembles two pit crates. The Twins are located in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island and are surrounded by lush and green forests, dominated by the endemic Scalesia plants. It is possible to walk along the rim of the craters to better appreciate the magnitude of the holes as well as the local flora and fauna. This site is also one of the most likely places to observe the endemic short-ear owl of the Galapagos.

- 14: 30 Canoe river tour and monkey watching: We will embark on a motorized canoe, in a relaxed way we will appreciate the landscapes offered by the jungle, rivers, and banks of the Napo and Arajuno rivers. We will go in the final part under the treetops on the banks of the Arajuno River, where with a little luck, we can observe and photograph primate species, without invading their ecosystem and responsibly with our environment. If the weather allows, we will have the opportunity to take a dip in the river. (3 hours approx.)
- After or before the tour we will prepare artisanal chocolate in the lodge. In this opportunity you will not only see how it is made, but you will also participate in the preparation and to delight with its flavor in a dessert that we will create at the end of this experience. (45minutes approx.)

- 09:30 Hiking in the Primary Forest: This is a mountain hike across the primary forests. You will explore and observe many natural wonders including medicinal plants, insects, and animals. We will also visit ‘Ceibo’ the giant tree of the Amazon. Finally, we are going to reach a viewpoint at the height of the Napo and Arajuno rivers. (2-3 hours approx.)
- 13:30 Lunch
- 14:30 Anaconda Island: It is located in between the Napo and Arajuno rivers place where live some Kichwa indigenous families live. We will have the opportunity to visit one of them and become familiar with their customs and traditions. You will have an opportunity to sample ’chicha’ (traditional beverage) and cassava, which is a basic feature of the Kichwa diet. You will also learn about and practice their ancient hunting methods and their use of the blowgun. Upon entering the island, we will pass through the margins of a small swamp inhabited by “hoatzines” (called prehistoric birds) and caimans that we can observe in their natural habitat. (2-3 hours approx.)

- 09:30 Visit to the animal rescue center “Amazoonico”: It is one of the most important and highly regarded conservation projects in the Amazon. The proceeds from visiting here support the maintenance and reintegration of the animals, some of them in danger of extinction. Among the animals you will see here: alligators, tapirs, ocelots, toucans, anaconda, macaws, and monkeys of various species (2 hours approx.).

- 15:00 Butterfly farm of Ahuano village: An incredible experience for our visitors is to observe hundreds of butterflies flying freely in a greenhouse in any climatic condition. The garden is a controlled environment featuring an astounding array of plants and flowers, and boasts approximately 25 native species of butterflies. There will be a presentation on the entire cycle of the butterfly metamorphosis. (1 hour approx.)
In the village of Ahuano, as well, we are going to visit two handicrafts projects leading for different indigenous families. The art of ceramics is traditional in the Kichwa culture and has been passed down through the generations. You will visit a family in the Ahuano village whose source of income is decorative pottery. Balsa wood is an important raw material for the Indian culture. It is widely used for making crafts and decorative figures. You will visit and watch a presentation by a local craftsman who shapes these figures from a single piece of trunk wood, after which he treats and decorates them for sale. Both families will share with you the process of making these beautiful handicrafts. (30 min. each approx.) - 19:30 Dinner
- 20:30 Night walk: With the aid of flashlights, you will discover the nocturnal world of the forest. You will encounter the symphony of nocturnal birds, colored frogs, insects of all kinds, and many more jungle creatures. (45 minutes approx.)
