Galapagos Natural Life
Isabela Island 2D/1N
Daily Tour Galapagos

Called like this in honor of Queen Isabel I of Castile who sponsored the trip of Columbus (his name in English honors the Duke of Albemarle). It is the largest island in the archipelago, with an area of 4588 km² and occupies 58% of the land area of the islands. The shape of the island is due to the fusion of five large volcanoes (Cerro Azul, Sierra Negra, Salcedo, Darwin and Wolf) in a single mass. It has a population of approximately 2200 inhabitants. The highest point is the Wolf volcano, which reaches 1,707 meters. On this island you can see penguins, marine iguanas, flightless cormorants, blue-footed boobies, pelicans, as well as abundant zayapas and blue sharks. In the foothills and calderas of the six volcanoes of Isabela, you can see giant tortoises and land iguanas, as well as finches, pigeons, hawks and an interesting vegetation. The third largest human settlement of the archipelago and its largest port, known as Puerto Villamil or Albemarle, is located on the southern tip of the island.
